Dashboard builder
Open Arrange widgets, start from a ready template or AI, add rows and widgets, then Done: update a template, save a new one, or apply to roles only.
On this page
Who is this lesson for?
- Company admin: builds the widget layout for a role, then applies it.
- The employee: does not open the builder. They see the saved layout on Dashboard.
Before you start
- You need permission to manage company settings.
- That role already has a non-Legacy layout and Open this page from Dashboard set to Dashboard — see A dashboard for each role.
Compact Operational is a layout on the previous page. Dashboard builder is this editor. Arrange widgets opens it.
Open the builder

This is Dashboard for that role. The Dashboard builder button sits on the home, opposite the workspace title.
Two ways:
- From Dashboard itself: the Dashboard builder button, if you can manage company settings.
- From Settings → Dashboard settings → Web dashboard: open the role, then Arrange widgets.

The canvas shows the current rows for that role. Cancel closes without saving.
Start from a template or AI

Pick a ready template to replace the canvas. Or click AI layout, describe what you need, then Generate layout.

Example: HR dashboard with attendance, leaves and pending tasks. Review the result before Done — nothing is saved yet.
Rows and columns

Click Add row. Set how many columns sit side by side (1 to 4). Drag widgets between rows. A Quick add widget needs a one-column row — it will not drop into a two-column row.
Add a widget
Click Add widget. Search, or browse by group (Overview, HR, CRM, Finance…).

| Type | What it is |
|---|---|
| Statistics | A number (open invoices, people at work today). |
| Chart | A trend or a comparison. |
| Table | A list of rows you can open. |
| List | Latest items (tasks, tickets). |
| Calendar | Dates on a calendar. |
| Quick actions | Shortcuts to the pages that role uses most. |
| Service card | A module card with its activity. |
| Quick add | Create a record from the dashboard (lead, task, expense). Full row only. |
Disabled modules do not appear in the library.
Display options
Select a widget. Display lets you change the title, chart type, which stats or links show, duplicate, or delete.

Click a row title to rename the row.
Done — how to save

Click Done.
| Choice | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Update current template | You already saved a named template and want to overwrite it. |
| Save as new template | Give a name (example: Sales week). It joins Ready templates for every role. |
| Apply to roles only | Put this canvas on the selected roles now, without storing a named template. |

The current role is always included. Tick more roles to give them the same layout. Then confirm.
What happens after you save?
Dashboard shows the new rows. The Dashboard builder button stays on the home so you can open it again.

- Those roles see the new rows the next time they open Dashboard.
- A named template stays under Ready templates until you delete it.
- Apply to roles only does not add a named template.
Common questions
Quick add will not drop?
It needs a one-column row. Add a row, set columns to 1, then drop it.
Apply to roles only or Save as new template?
Apply changes those roles now. Save as new keeps a named copy you can reuse on other roles later.
Compact Operational or this editor?
Compact Operational is the layout on the role page. This editor arranges widgets on top of that layout.
Reset layout in the builder?
It restores the canvas of the current layout, not a return to Legacy. Legacy is chosen on the role page.
